To start this month's article I have a little teaser:

What do these three photos have in common?

Well let's see - The first picture on the left is two Somali pirates.  The middle picture is the late great Lyle Alzado of the Oakland Raiders and the third picture is a guy in a black coat.

If you say they are all Raiders, well you are only partly correct.

If you say they are Raiders and like any good Raider, they sneak up on you and catch you completely off guard, then you have probably had either your oil tanker high-jacked; been insanely tackled or possibly have already met Paul August    Aka - PNWRaiderFan.

Paul August is the owner of a very cool Solstice and the focus of this article.   Paul joined Pacific Northwest Roadsters in October, and like a true fanatic has his ride already tricked out. Now anyone can do a few mod's to their car, but what set Paul off from the others was that he took his modifications in a whole new direction.

So what did Paul do to earn this distinction.      Read on............

A View from the Cheap Seats

Formula D Racing

by Mike Perry and Tom Ogle

August 9th, 2008.  Evergreen Speedway, Monroe, Washington.

The acrid smell of thousands of dollars of burnt up racing tires filling your nose.  The super charged whine of the turbos buzzing in your ears like some giant prehistoric mosquito come to life.  The chunks of shredded tire flying off the track into your face as you battle the instinct to do what any other sensible person would do when a car is skidding sideways at them at a terrifying 80 miles per hour with only a 2 -foot portable barricade between you.  That perma-grin on your buddy’s face that you can feel spreading across your own.

This is drift racing baby!!!!
